2016 Corporate Award Winners Announced

Release 16-1, March 17, 2016—The Employee Assistance Society of North America (EASNA) announces its 12th Annual Corporate Award winners. The award is given yearly to showcase the excellence, innovation, and impact of Employee Assistance Programs in the workplace. This year’s winners will deliver a presentation on their programs at the 28th Annual Institute, EASNA’s annual conference, April 27-29 at the Omni Mont Royal in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

The following companies have been selected as the 2016 winners:

  • In Canada the winner is Emco Corporation, whose EAP is Morneau Shepell.
  • In the US the winner is Providence Health & Services, whose EAP is Beacon Health Options.

The second annual Leadership Award will be presented to Marie-Thérèse Dugré, president and CEO of Solareh, Services for Progress in Human Resources, Inc. This award recognized an individual who throughout his or her career demonstrated ongoing commitment and support of EAP and workplace health.

In 1984 Dugré, a psychologist, and her partner founded Solareh on the belief that work and health are inter-related. In 1986 they designed and launched the first EAP sold by insurance companies to their clients. On top of the 12 hours of problem-solving counselling, the program also included primary prevention activities in the workplace, such as lunch and learn sessions on stress management, health and wellness days.

She was a member of the national committee that developed the National Standard of Canada for Psychological Health and Safety in the Workplace. Solareh received its first Healthy Enterprise – Elite certification in 2009, a certification that has since been renewed every year. In 2012 Dugré received the Excellence Gold Healthy Workplace award.

An independent panel of judges reviews submissions and evaluates them on a series of criteria that underscore the importance of integrating the services of an EAP provider to ensure the health and well-being of the company’s workforce.

The winning companies or the EAPs will deliver a formal presentation as part of a one-hour program during the Institute on April 29. Information on the winners will also be posted on the EASNA website (https://www.easna.org).

As the employee assistance industry’s trade association, EASNA advances the competitive excellence of its members by fostering best practices, research, education, and advocacy in behavioral health and wellness that impacts workplace performance.
