With its scenic views, mild climate, and friendly people, the port city of Vancouver is known around the world as both a popular tourist attraction and one of the best places to live. Vancouver is one of the most ethnically and linguistically diverse cities in Canada with 52 percent of the population speaking a first language other than English.

Surrounded by mountains, Vancouver is a popular filming location and has thriving art, theatre, and music scenes. Vancouver is no stranger to hosting international conferences and events, including the 2010 Winter Olympics and 2010 Winter Paralympics. Expect a fantastic visit!

The Pinnacle Hotel Harbourfront is in the Coal Harbour neighborhood of downtown Vancouver, just two blocks from the city’s famous Seawall and the Vancouver Convention Centre. They are among the closest hotels to the Canada Place Cruise Ship Terminal and within walking distance of all of downtown Vancouver’s top attractions including Stanley Park, Gastown and the Granville Street Entertainment District.

If you are flying into Vancouver International Airport (YVR), the easiest way to get to downtown is by hopping on the Canada Line light-rail service – just look for the “Trains to the City” signs! The 30-minute trip is CAD $9, and tickets can be purchased by credit card on the platform. Alternatively, taxis are available and charge a flat fee from CAD $31 – $35 for downtown zones. Once downtown, walking is often the best option. Taxis are plentiful, and the conference hotel also offers a complimentary car service within downtown Vancouver.

Vancouver also has the SkyTrain, the oldest and one of the longest automated driver-less light rapid transit systems in the world! You can access the SkyTrain directly from the terminal in the airport.
